i have ripped a dvd using dvdx2.2 but when i play it back on my dvd player it stops and start (jerky) not all the time., used different disc and burnt them at 4speed.
Can anybody help with setting or suggest a different encoder?

For VCD use TMPGEnc, for SVCD use CCE SP with DVD2SVCD if possible!

Used TMPGEnc and dvd2avi and recived excellent results. I think my picture is a bit stretched. i'am unsure where to change the aspect ratio when i use dvd2avi its in 16 x 9 pal i think it should be 4 x 3 pal. Maybe the problem is when i encode with tmpgenc but my picture is streched a liitle. Can you help?

In TMPGEnc, click setting and click the advanced tab. Change video arrange methos to "Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio)". That should work!

Thats how it already is maybe im just worried about nothing. But i think it looks stretched shouldn't i have black bars at the top and bottom like when i play a dvd on my tv? why when i use dvd2avi it says in the aspect ratio 16 x 9 instead of 4 x 3 does this have anything to do with it?

19:9 is widescreen. What i think might be happening is your dvd player might be stretching it on you!! That happens a lot and usually there is no way to stop it!
