I typically burn and covert avi and mp4 to a DVD so I can watch it on my TV. The quality was good when I had a old CRT TV now I have 37 and 42 inch flat screen TV's the video quality of the DVD’s I burned is pretty bad. I use DVDflick. What can I do differently in order to improve the quality of video on my new TVs? I was thinking of getting a portable hard drive and attaching it to the USB port on my TV and watching directly from there will that make a difference?

if the quality of the video is poor the better the tv the more you will notice it.upscaling the avi might improve the quality slightly.best thing to do is use the original dvd or get a better quality rip.
