my m8 has vista,and avast anti virus, useing IE, he got this http://performanceoptimizer.com/.landing/index.php and clicked on it to run a scan(not a good idea)which he closed after,now his a/v is coming up with a 'virus found,please abort' message ALL the time when he is on video sites,fire wall is ok,A/V ok,pop-up blocker ok,tried clearing temp files and cookies,,what do you guys think??? thanx CB
Hi, Does the av give any filenames/locations for this virus? Here's a cleaning program he could try: http://download.drweb.com/drweb+cureit/ I haven't looked at this lately, but I think it creates a log. http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner If the cureit program doesn't eliminate the problem, try running the online Kaspersky scan and see what the log says about infections. That should give you some virus/malware names that you can then study to find out how to remove.
