I don't get it. I've read that port I/O can't be isntalled in 64-bit operating systems. If I have a 64-bit WIndows 7 operating system, what do I install? I was lucky enough to get a BenQ if that makes a difference.
this thread is funny because there is one just like it on the front page about 5 threads down. nobody searches anymore somebody in this thread (wooii) claims to have used 64 bit for flashing. i have read that you can't flash using 64 bit machines. i'm in the process of trying to dual boot with windows 7 64 bit and windows XP 32 bit. proving to be a little bit of a hastle when you have windows 7 installed first. tonight i'm going to try and do a fresh 32bit xp install on one drive and then re-install windows 7 64bit on another.
Flashing in a Win7 x64 is possible with DosFlash64 v1.8. This will need to be completed to allow DosFlash64 to work properly. There is no 64bit PortIO support so you can't flash Samsungs, BenQs, or LiteOns with JF in Win7 x64. However, it is possible to flash Hitachis in JF with Win7 x64. You must boot Slax to get the drive into Mode B. Once in Mode B, load Windows and then start JF. The Hitachi should be recognized and you can dump and flash via WinAPI.
So is it possible to flash xbox drives with Windows 7 32bit? Reason I ask is I use a seperate Windows XP PC for my flashing due to Windows 7 automatically loading the driver for my Via 6421a card. I assumed this would not go well with JF, so i didnt bother trying any further. Also I have to disable the windows driver? Sorry for the thread hijack BTW.
Windows 7 will install "vsmraid.sys" and you will need to remove it. Keep it though as if you ever want to rip games, you will need to restore it so the drive can be recognized by Windows. When you go to install PortIO, you will need to do it manually. Click start and then type: Code: hdwwiz That will bring up the manual install and you will need to navigate to the .inf for PortIO.
yeah I think I had to google the hzwiz thing. Not sure why it was hidden to begin with. Windows 7 is awesome!
No problem. I do know that the JF team has no future in running on 64-bit. According to them, it would be a ton of work.
I wouldn't say it works too well. I wasn't able to write to the drive properly.I ended up using dosflash to flash the firmware.
