In the "settings devices", I have the autoplay on and it is set to "open folder to view files" in the autoplay defaults.
However, when I plug my portable hard drive into the computer, it does not automatically open as it should.
Can anyone tell me why and how I might fix it?
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

    I have windows 10 version 1809
    os build 17763.253

I can find the portable hard drive listed when I look under C:.
I can open it from there.
It just doesn't open automatically as it should.

Auto play is on what about the tick in the drive letter box in the selection of what is or isn't allowed to auto play.Failing that you may have to remove grayed out devices in device manager by "showing hidden devices" under "disk drives" & "universal serial bus controllers" other than that i got nothing else, unless the hard drive itself doesn't allow it or perhaps there's a hidden text file on it that stops it *really stretching now*
