Problem "Pos ready" trick for XP security patches not working.

I used the registry hack mentioned here:-

When I double click on the .reg file I get the following Windows pop up notification:-
"Cannot import C:\Documents and Settings \"User"\Desktop\xp-security- updates.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes"

I downloaded and used Martin Brinkmann's .reg file from: https://www.ghacks.net/2014/05/24/get-security-updates-windows-xp-april-2019/

I also made my own .reg file using Note Pad and copy and pasting from the same page, with the same result. How can I make this work? My XP is 32 bit professional. So it should work!
