like for example some dvd players have xvid decoder, so all you do is burn the .avi files as data and fit upto 6 movies into a single dvd, no menus or anything, just a straight copy.. im wondering if its possible to convert those same avi's or other videos into a format that a nondivx dvd player will read and fit 5-6 movies into a single dvd as well

heres the codecs i used, it was originally .mpg container but i renamed it to .vob since mediacoder doesnt have vob container in options :

    Code:
    General
    Complete name : C:\bla blah\video.vob

An AVI file converted to DVD Movie format takes up much more space on the disk (one of the reasons that someone converted the movie to AVI format in the first place, was to get a smaller file).
When the movie was converted to AVI, some of the quality of the video was lost - converting it back to DVD movie format will lose more quality.
A standard blank DVD is rated for two hours of running time - if you put over three hours of movies onto the disk, the quality will fall off very quickly.

Disc are so cheap I never understand why you would want to put so many movies on one disc unless. In the day and age of HD quality, Maybe It's just me but I would want it to look as good as it could and not all blurry and fuzzy . There are ways to keep compressing down, I have done DL disc down to SL disc ( the movie was fuzzy from the start so it did not matter ) and it looked like crap, but I did it anyway It was just fun to do
