I'm thinking about modding my 360 but I don't really know options are available for doing so. Is it possible to mod a console without having to solder anything or otherwise mess around with the internal components? I remember being able to mod my original Xbox simply with a hacked gamesave for Mech Assault, and that's it.

Sorry if there's already a guide for this, but I didn't see one and don't know where to begin. I'd really appreciate it if someone could give a quick heads up on how to get started.

    Thanks!

there is no softmod, but depending on the drive and tools you use there is no soldering as well. not as easy as the gamesave exploit, but still pretty simple, first thing you need to do is open your 360, and find out which drive you have. there are diff methods for diff drives, buy a via 6421 pci sata card9if you have hitachi probs wont need it), come back lets us know what you got

Just to be a smart ass, the firmware hack is basically a "softmod" because it is software induced hack. So yes it is softmoddable.

No its not as simple as poping in a memory card with a gamesave hack but it is not rocket science. The 360 doesn't have all the unlockable features available to the original xbox either.
