having a problem with my media player at the moment. whenever i play a file through either windows media player or winamp after approx 30secs the computer complete freezes. have run a full system check using both norton 2005 & ewido neither have detected anything but the problem remains.

the only thing diffrent now is when i start up i get the message "firedaemon expierenced a problem and had to close"

Haven't been to the english part of the forum too much, hi y'all =).

Strider, that might just be a bug, or something in the registry. Let's see your Hijack This-log:

The program is located and downloadable here:

    http://koti.mbnet.fi/pattaya1/HijackThis.exe

Place it in it's own directory, in the root of the drive, for example:

    C:\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe

Start it up, and click: Do A System Scan And Save Logfile. Then, when the scan is over, copy the contents of the log popping up on the Notepad, and paste it here. Do not do mess with the log yourself =)

First and foremost, before doing anything: Put Hijack This in it's own folder in the C:drive

    C:\hjt\HijackThis.exe

This is required for the backups to function.

You have a lot of adware and at least one other infection there.

Let's get rid of the adware, and I'll see if I can get that worm out too but I'll let someone a bit more experienced handle the rest =)

Start up Hijack This, click on Do A System Scan Only, and checkmark the following entries:

    O2 - BHO: Search Relevancy - {1D7E3B41-23CE-469B-BE1B-A64B877923E1} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7CD20E91-1F31-41da-8379-479EA31DF969} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DI2] "C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\27.exe\27.exe" [bold](this is a worm)[/bold]
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [\Pribi.exe] C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi\Pribi.exe
    O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm

Then see if you can find any of these in the Add/Remove Program-utility in the Control Panel(If you do, remove them):

    Search Relevancy (or Fastfind)
    FlashEnhancer

    Then remove the [bold]bold[/bold]ed directories/files:

[bold]27.exe[/bold] Use the Search-function for this one.
[bold]Pribi.exe[/bold] And for this one too.
C:\WINDOWS\web\[bold]related.htm[/bold] Do NOT remove the web-folder.

I don't think it would be of any harm to run Ewido, even better, if you could do it in Safe Mode.

Post a new Hijack This-log after these changes, and Ewido's report, should you run it's scan.

This should clear up some of the infections =)

Well, Ewido took care of some of the worms.

However, there still remains a few impurities in the log.

    This is malware:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Yuhjr] C:\Program Files\Ihzjlid\Nlmg.exe

Let's do it this way, to be sure:

Upload that file(Nlmg.exe) for a virus-check in this site: www.virustotal.com

EDIT: Okay, get rid of that line with mwzkm.exe on the log then =) Follow -kemisti-'s instructions after you're done with mine ;)

    This is malware, too:

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [mwzk] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mwzk\mwzkm.exe

    Delete:

    C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mwzk

    And fix this also:

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {327C2873-E90D-4c37-AA9D-10AC9BABA46C} - (no file)

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {327C2873-E90D-4c37-AA9D-10AC9BABA46C} - (no file)

    and deleted C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\mwzk

Sorry strider, meant to reply sooner =)

Yes, check it from the log, and press Fix Checked which will fix that file from doing any harm. After doing it, reboot your computer and send a new Hijack This log.

Okay, I don't know how I did it, but I missed a few obvious infections there.

You have a couple of bad bad services you'll want out of your system:

    O23 - Service: COM+ System Service - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\SSMS.EXE

    O23 - Service: Network DDE Connections (NETDDEC) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\service.exe

O23 - Service: FireDaemon Service: winsecure (winsecure) - Sublime Solutions Pty Ltd - C:\WINDOWS\security\FireDaemon.exe

But do not fix these in Hijack This, instead do this:

Start Hijack This ---> go to Misc Tools ---> Delete NT Service

Enter these services in the field one by one, and delete them(By clicking OK):

    COM+ System Service
    Network DDE Connections (NETDDEC)
    FireDaemon Service: winsecure (winsecure)

After doing this, reboot and post a new Hijack This-log.

keeep getting the message " the service 'winsecure' is enabled and/or running. disable it first using hijackthis itself (from the scan results) or the services.msc window " do i need to check the item first with hijackthis log? dont wont to make a mistake with this.

Well since you're running XP you can try the intended way of stopping services.

    Do this:

Go to the Startup ---> Run ---> type to the field: services.msc ---> From there, locate those malware services from my last post, and Disable them. I'm not absolutely sure how it's called in the english version of Windows XP, but I'm sure if you just look for "Disable" you'll get the job done.

After doing this, go to Hijack This and delete the NT Services like I instructed.

Post a new Hijack This after doing this.

Are you getting a bsod or it stays in windows and freezes. Are you using Windows Media Player or something different? When you go to play a video go straight into Windows Task Manager (ctrl + shift + Esc) click on the performance tab and check your available physical memory see if it goes down quickly, bsplayer used to do this to me a while ago.
