I am evaluating the trial version right now. Looks VERY promising. I like that fact that this one piece of software can create movies for a range of devices instead of having to buy software for each one. I have PQ DVD to iPod and like that although its only for the iPod. The AnyDVD and CloneDVD combo is a killer one. Lets see how the mobile version works. If it does, I will be making movies for my pod and PSP with just one piece of software.

I jumped right in and bought it! I have really enjoyed the other products.

However I copied 2 movies over. I would start the movie and it would play for a few second and then freeze for a second then continue playing without sound. Then when I scrolled ahead in the movie it would start playing sound. After a few seconds it would freeze again then it would play without sound.

But then I went into video settings on Ipod and turned the TV out to: on. Don't know what this did but now I could watch the movies without any problems!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Bill

The movies are acting like that on the iPod? I converted 2 movies but only played them on the PC to see the quality and they seemed fine. Did you upgrade your iPod to 1.1? I have been reading about all the issues with videos freezing and stuff after upgrading. I have stayed away from that update until the next. I will send one of my converted movies to the iPod and let you know.

    CloneDVD Mobile Audio Sync

    quote
    SlySoft Team Member
There are three possible reasons for this problem.
1.) The source DVD is Arccos or Macrovision RipGuard protected, and you did not use AnyDVD. In this case, the Audio will be out of sync right from the beginning.

2.) The source DVD has interleaved blocks. I don't think there are many DVDs on the market using interleaved blocks apart from multi-angle DVDs. The most prominent example would be "The Matrix" original release (I don't know if the re-release has them).
There is a bug in CloneDVD mobile, interleaved blocks which are not part of multi angles (e.g. StarWars Episode I,II & III or Die another Day use multi angles, so the interleaved blocks here are no problem) will be skipped, but the audio will continue to run. After the interleaved part is finished, the audio will be out of sync for the duration of the missing picture.

3.) Your player (hardware) does not like the framerate. For example, the PSP can only play Videos with 29.97 frames/seconds. If you encode with a different rate, e.g. 25 frames/second, the picture will play too fast but the sound will play normal = running out of sync, and the error will increase.

You have to check what the cause for your problem is. If the Audio is out of sync from the beginning, and the "offset" stays the same: Use AnyDVD.
If the Audio is out of sync in the middle of the movie (after a specific point): Wait for an update. Sorry.
If the audio "drifts" more and more, you probably need to specify a different framerate in the "Devices.ini" file. You should contact our support, so we can add a new entry for your device.

Well, did some searching around and downloaded another couple of applications that rip DVDs to Ipod. The demo version only would rip 5 minutes worth of the DVD, but I was able to test the output and it worked on the Ipod without a hitch.

So, the file I created with CloneDVD Mobile freeze for a second, then it plays without sound. But the other product has no problems with the same title.

    The movie is Finding Nemo.

Also, is there a way to adjust settings on the CloneDVD mobile, such as bit rate, etc.? I really do like my other software I bought from slysoft, but this application is having issues.

just to be clear, my audio is not out of synch. The screen will freeze for a second, as if the buffer ran low. then it will continue on without ANY sound whatsoever.

    Thanks,
    Bill

I've tried clonedvd mobile with the generic divx on four disks. All had an annoying audio/video sync problem - audio was a fraction of a second to about 1/2 second ahead of the video. I was using anydvd on the computer, and the sync problem occurred on the HD file, on two different computers and a DVD player, so I'm pretty sure it's not specific to either the burner, driver, or the type of player.

    To convert, used:
    Generic DivX
    Chose Main Program to record
    Selected Dolby AC-3/6 audio
    Size: 480 X 270
    Quality: 23

    CloneDVD Mobile version: 1.0.2.1
    AnyDVD version: 5.8.4.1
Win XP home, 2 M RAM, 180G ATA C:, 160G SATA RAID 0 for data
    A64 3400+

CloneDVD Mobile guide for iPod video added HERE AT AFTERDAWN

Convert DVD video to MP4 for iPod

This guide will show you how to convert video from a DVD (can main movies/feature or extras) to MP4 files to store and view on a video iPod. This guide is intended mainly for new users who want to save a few bucks by converting TV shows or other content from their DVD collection instead of buying them again from iTunes (as it is your right to do so). It will work for pretty much any DVD as long as it is not encrypted. This guide uses commercial software from the infamous and highly respected SlySoft - the company that brought us CloneCD, CloneDVD and AnyDVD. Their products are of high quality and are easy to use. The software I use in this guide, CloneDVD Mobile, is no exception.

What are the capabilities of CloneDVD mobile?

CloneDVD Mobile can open a DVD folder stored on your Hard Disk Drive and then give you an option of what you want to convert to MP4. Besides supporting converting for iPods, it can also output video for a Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP), iAudio X5, Creative Zen Vision players, Windows Mobile SmartPhones and more.

One possible problem for users however, is that CloneDVD Mobile, like CloneDVD 2, cannot handle copy protected DVDs. For this reason, most retail DVDs have to be decrypted and "ripped" before you can open them with CloneDVD Mobile.

You can read the video to iPod guide at:
Convert video files to MP4 files for iPod

This guide shows the process of converting video files to MP4 video to store and view on a video iPod. The guide is pretty simple and should be fine for new users. In this guide we will be using only free software, mainly Free iPod Video Converter. Besides the use you will make of iTunes after the process is complete, this should be the only software that you need for this process. Before we start there are a few things that you need to remember first...

Sorry, but 1.0.4.1 doesn't correct the audio/video sync problem I reported earlier when coding for DivX. The audio is still in advance of the video in my tests.

I have just downloaded CloneDVDmobile ver 1.0.4.1 and after placing my DVD in the drive, I picked IPOD and went through each screen.
When I get to the output, I nothiced that the only choice I have is:
    320X120 Mpeg2???
    Why can't I see the Ipod default 320x240 Mpeg4??
    Can someone Help?

320/120 is about 2.6, and that's close to a common wodescreen ratio. Was the DVD "enhanced for widescreen?" If so, it's possible that the output file will have letterbox bands at top and bottom to reproduce the original aspect ratio.

I didn't notice a crop or pan-and-scan option on clonedvd mobile, so I suspect the program just copied to original aspect ratio to the output file.

ffmpeg is installed as a standalone application in the "apps"

Up to the version of 1.0.5.2, still unable to add subtitle and output to Ipod video. I am a bit disappointed although the subtitle looks small on ipod video. At least, I can understand what the moive said for me (I am Chinese). Now, I am using InterVideo iVideotogo as the substitute.

I have CloneDVD Mobile v.1.0.5.2 and AnyDVD v.5.9.1.1. I convert the DVD's, Drop and Drag to Folder 100MNV01 on my PSP that's running v.1.51 but I get message "Incompatible Data" on my PSP. Is there suppose to a THM file with then MP4 file? I have tried 2 different movies.
