    Posts made at the Safety valve are [bold]not taken into account[/bold] when calculating the member levels. Please see:

    Due to the nature of the Safety valve forum, we saw this change was needed.

    Hopefully this will equal no bitching in SV about what people talk about and such. A very good idea.

    The fact that posts in Safety Valve count as your posts when you look at your post stats via "My Account", doesn't change the fact that the auto-promotion script that changes user statuses, ignores posts made in safety valve forum. Thus, you can have 500 posts and still be newbie, if all your posts are made in SV.

    And yes, it also means that people should stop complaining about "useless" threads and posts made in the SV, allowing safety valve (and all other topics, another forum which is treated equally now) to fulfill its purpose as the place where people can freely post "useless" posts without the pressure to stay on topic :)

    Understood ~

    Perhaps that will llimit the number of members with the post count high enough to rate them as "Seniors" but with the experience of a "Newbie".

    Just one question. Do all safety valve posts not count, or just from now on?

    Just wondering because I after a year and a half, I just hit 500 posts...

    But there are some safety valve posts in there too. Just wondering how many more I need to hit Senior.

    Hi,

    Easiest way to 'count' your posts minus the safety valve is to do a search messages of your name and use only safety valve...your posts in there will be pulled up. Subtract that number from your total post count and there you have it.

    matt i tried that but it only gives you about 300 hundred results and if you have more than that it will say that you have exceeded the search parameters(well it did for me and scubapete as we are way above the norm on the post count).The best way is to go to your profile and in there where it says' see a list of your posts' you can count up how many are in the safety value.For people that are already newbie to senior its probably the only way you are going to know unless the admin install a mod for each user telling them how much they have to go to get to the next level

    @andmerr,

    you are correct if you are an addict/ mod and have more than 300 posts in the safety valve then yes you have exceeded the parameters..I was overlooking the fact that addicts would have well surpassed that ;). For myself as example only about 30 so worked for me and should for others seniors, members, juniors, newbies.

    Hi matt,

    Point of fact ~ There were too many who progressed to Member, Senior Members and Addicts that shouldn't and wouldn't if it weren't for the Safety Valve threads and other "bantering" threads throughout the forums

    Hopefully, when someone becomes a Senior or an Addict now, they will have had to answer enough honest questions to be of benifit to the forums.

    A step up, I say.
