as the title suggests i am getting a power calibration error when i try to burn audio cd's using nero.

strange part is that dvd's are burning ok.

i am using benQ media which has worked fine thus far (about 40 discs burned ok) but now my cd/dvd drive keeps making clicking noises and choking when i try to burn an audio cd

my computer recently went in for repairs so initially i thought that the technician may have upset something but if that was the case then surely it wouldnt have burnt a dvd ok

i thought maybe i had a couple of dodgy discs in the spindle so i took a disc from further down the spindle to try and it did the same thing

every time i try to burn the disc it stops then all of a sudden the progress bar shoots up to 24% complete and then i get the error message

this is really frustrating for me as i am a producer and a dj and it is vital that i can burn audio cd's

    please help!!!!!!!

Are you copying from one disc to another or are you making an audio cd out from audio files from your hard drive.

try another burning program and see what happens. it may be you have a faulty version of nero.

just plugged in my plextor usb cd writer

managed to burn an audio cd first time

    still two problems though

    1) does this mean my nec drive is faulty and needs to be replaced

    2) neither of them will show in windows media player still

the second one aint a huge deal cos i dont really use wmp for burning my audio cd's, just would be nice if i need to burn a cd quickly as it is always open

If your NEC drive can only burn DVD's and not Audio CD's then it sounds like it's faulty. Try and get it replaced or exchanged for a different one.

As long as your cd and dvd burners work in Nero then don't worry about them not working in WMP. WMP isn't as good as Nero for burning Audio CD's.
