Hi, I have problems to record with Matshita UJ-820S on my unit when using DVD+R or CD-R, but no with DVD-R. My computer is a notebook is a Toshiba Satellite A50-110. The media that I always use is TDK or Verbatim. I've got my notebook since one year ago and i never had problems to burn any media until one month ago. Since that, the burning process has no problem with DVD-R but it stops a few seconds after begining when using DVD+R or CD-R. The error message is "power calibration error" (in spanish "Error de calibracion de potencia"). Is a new firmware the solution? and in that case, where can i get it? Perhaps, I must order a new recorder? Thanks
You didnt say what version firmware you are runing. New firmware may fix it as power calibration error usely is for writing lead in. Check here for firmware http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2127
Sorry, but i can´t find it in nero info tool. I see a lot of drivers, and other files, but i don´t know where the firmware is. Please help me. Thanks.
Hi, I had/have the same problem with the DVD on a Toshiba Satellite which worked fine for a year and then just stopped working. This is what I did: I deinstalled Nero. I reinstalled Nero. I got a message from Nero advising me that XP SP/2 has some kind of new caching technique and that I should download the patches (I had recently upgraded to SP/2). I downloaded the 4 patches (for Nero 6) and installed them. The drive started working again normally (at least for CD-R, I didn't try with DVD+R). However, that was about two months ago and when yesterday I tried to burn some photos onto a CD the problem had returned (which is why I came to this site to look for a fix). I haven't had time to reinstall everything again so I can't say yet if it will work twice. It's worth mentioning that I don't much relish having to reinstall Nero every time I want to burn something so if anyone has a permanent fix I would love to hear about it. I don't know if SP/2 is the cause of the problem or if it is simply a Nero bug (Nero 6 has never been very reliable in my personal experience) - any ideas?
