    Hi,
Wonder if anyone could help with trying to burn Verbatim DL+R with Nero Recode.(It seems to be failing on layer2???)
I keep getting a Power Calibration error.
    I can burn any other format i.e CD-R, DVD+R/-R/RW.
Both disks have been checked for errors and defragmented.
    DMA is on
Two different burners have been used with the same result (a Pioneer K14L and an LG).
    Log is below:

there is new firmware for your Pioneer drive, 1.10

you have minimum amount of RAM..... and you're using most of it up causing problems with Nero, which will need more RAM! either increase your RAM by installing more or shut down unnecessary programs running in the background, no internet, no multi tasking while burning and even shut down your anti virus software!

    Power calibration error
<9>I have a Power calibration error?
Options you can try with "power calibration errors"
o Try another brand of DVD-/+R or DVD-/+RW media. This is the most common cause of OPC errors.
o "Slow down your burning speed".
o Update the firmware of your recorder. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest version.
o Check your power connectors, loose connections do occur. Don't share power with other devices. It needs its own power connector. If the errors occurs with an external recorder, Check the USB cable and connections.
o Try different configurations, such as taking the DVD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master.
o Clean or have your DVD burner serviced. There are cleaning kits available. Sometimes just a gentle appplication of canned air can remove dust blocking the laser.
    o Replace the DVD burner.
lets hope we don't need to do the last one :)

****update your firmware might fix this problem! do it!

    Hey IHoe,

is this an indication that Nero 7 was overlayed over Nero 6?

    Code:
    Using [b]interface version: 6.6.0.12[/b]

    Installed in: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\

good call ...... I guess Hobbits have better eyes than this old man! LOL

there is a better version of Nero 7.... 7.10.1.0........

Save your serial # then uninstall Nero!
Use the cleaning tool: Nero Cleaning tools:
    http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html
    http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero7-tools-utilities.html
do a registry clean up using this free cleaner: CCleaner:
    http://www.ccleaner.com/download
then do a defrag and reboot!

    now reinstall Nero 7.10.1.0: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?2893

    that will take away the:
    Nero API version: 7.0.0.0
    Using interface version: 6.6.0.12
but the Power Calibration Error has to be addressed!

(These are older hobbit eyes with bifocals, btw IHoe!)

I just noticed you are burning a DL, a Verbatim MKM 003 to be exact. This is fairly new media so make sure you use the most current firmware for your drive.

Check the label on the box/tub that the discs came in and tell us where they are made, either Singapore or India.

I've had best success burning these @ 6x, ONCE MY DRIVE LEARNS THEM but that is with the Singapore discs.

I hate to say this, but if the discs are made in India, your power calibration error could be caused by the discs.

(Wow, that was wierd. MSmith1's thank you post was already posted when I placed this post and mine got inserted ahead of his. I jsut noticed why, the time stamp for my post is in US Central Time Zone, where I'm at, and not the usual, standard Eastern Time Zone for all posts)

    @Hobbit........
which is the first thing mentioned in the correction of the Power Calibration Error response I gave ......

there must be something wrong here..... I'm in Florida and I don't understand why it's Central standard time and not Eastern Standard time where it's 12:10 now!

    Oh, my mis-spent youth.

I seem to remember meeting Alice a couple of times, not to mention the March Hare & the Cheshire Cat! :D

Apparently it is "Welcome to my Time Zone"!

Ooh, but you forget that Fsxxk waylaid Gholmb by the silver pool and returned her unharmed through the veil.

    Hello IHoe & Hobbit,

    Just a quick update!

Installed Nero 7 1.10 but am having problems with the firmware aspect for the Pioneer.
Downloaded ok but when it tries to install I get the error
    " Target not Found"

Updated the LG firmware with A117 and that works perfectly.
Any suggestions as to the Pioneer problem.
Many thanks for all your help.
