i got this ps3 they said it had a bad power supply, ok, so i tested the power supply and it was pushing the full 120 ac volts straight to the mobo, i tried hooking an external power supply of 12v on 3amps(thats all it could do) but the ps3 power supply pushes 12v on 3.3amps, does that make a big difference? either way i have no red light what so ever, did the ps3 power supply mess up the mobo while it was pushing 120 ac volts to it? also is the external psu pushing enough amps to get a reaction from the ps3, thanks
If that board had 120V put through it, the fuses are all blown. Also, the rest of the board is almost certainly fried...the fan and BD drive might very well be shot as well.
