I recently had an old VCR fried by lightning due to using a cheap circuit breaker power bar. In an effort to prevent the same thing from happening to my PC, I want to invest in a good power surge and spike protector. Anyone have any advice on what I might want to get? Thanks in advance for any shared collective experience . . .
i bought 2x 8plug Belkin surge protector, there very good quality, but cost a bit,i got two of em which i bought when i got my new pc and my tv,and they costed me $100us each.besides that i don't know much, but i know you shouldnt be getting cheap ones, cuz there bad quality and might not last... http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=173147
Thanks skater685 . . . a follow up question if I may: Do you know if the Belkins protect you from 'spike' as well as 'surge'. I've heard those are two separate concerns. Any light you can shed on this matter is greatly appreciated, thanks . . .
lol i actually dont know what the diff is,i thought it's the same thing.so i'm not completely sure, for me i just bought them to so called protect them, but i'm personally didnt worry to much, cuz i've got insurance against it...sorry,but i just don not know that much...u should probably just ask the people working at the store when you decide to buy one...
hey thanks skater685, I got the same Belkin and the support staff at the shop agreed with your tip saying that was the way to go. I got it for the same price too - appreciate your tip! This thing looks for sure like it's built to work and last. Good warranty too. I feel much safer now.
