I was in my local PC shop and came across this wired network solution. Am an electrician by trade and i cant get my head around how this works, i currently have a wireless card in my desktop running on vista ultimate, now for some reason, my card just drops out and windows cant find the wireless network (think my card is not compatible with vista) so i thought about wired, and maybe this is a solution. Has anyone here ever tried these powerline network devices? if so, how do you rate them and are they worth the money?
I've not used one myself, but they seem to be getting decent reviews. As far as I can tell, the network signal is sent through the earth cable of the socket, but without being earthed itself, if that makes any sense.
I see... but it still seems to me that they would be suseptible to damage caused by spikes or faults in the wiring, unless there is overload protection in them, which by rights there should be.
