A few days ago I printed a DVD cover for a movie that I have. Now I tried to print something else, and the paper comes out blank or with small streaks of ink. I know that it is not the ink cartridge, because I replaced that after I got the first blank page. There is a chance that for the cover, it printed past where the paper ends. Would this do it? I would appreciate any help because I have tons of ink for this printer (about 30 cartridges) and I would hate to buy a different printer cause then all the ink is lost. Also, I do not think they make this printer any more. It is a Canon BJC-2100 (about 5 years old).
where you using the small black or the big black?. when you said you replaced the cartridge was it actually the small black tank or the big black cartridge??
When I print a test page, nothing prints. By replacing the cartridge, I mean the actual ink cartridge, not the big black one. I will try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and see what happens. Edit: I forgot to mention, the printer goes through all of the print motion, so it is like it is printing, only no ink gets on the paper.
what has probably happened is the ink jets are clogged on the tank holder for the small black & color tank. take the tank holder out & sit on a fairly damp paper towel in a old bowl/plate to see if the ink jets clear up. also make certain you still have ink in both tanks. do you have a big black cartridge & if so does it do the same thing.
this is a stupid ? but did you take that little thing[plastic]off the bottem of the printer port[im talking about the ink cart itself]it comes with this protective piece on the bottem so the ink dosent get all over.i know you did, just had to ask
Thanks DDP, I will give this one a try now. Also, to rugripper, I am glad that you asked that, because a lot of times people forget to do/check the obvious.
I tried your cleaning method and two paper towels were completely soaked with ink after letting the print head rest on it, however, this did not solve the problem. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but that did not help either. I will do it again since it removed so much ink, it may end up working. It is wierd that it stopped printing right after I printed the DVD cover. The cover printed all the way to the edge and it was not the whole image, so I think it kept on printing after the page was done.
you can try to look in printer and faxes in control panel, maybe for some reason it found and listed another printer some how.hope this helps
I am not familiar with the terms, but I will describe what I put on the damp paper towel. When I open the printer, there is a blue lever. When I flip it, a black thing comes out. This says Canon Color BJ cartridge BC-21e. Inside of this, I there are two gray colored ink cartridges; a BCI-21 Color on the left and BCI-21 Black on the right. I placed the larger, black BC-21e on the damp paper towel. This is the one that has the chip. Under printer faxes, I have the Canon BJC-2100 (default), Adobe PDF, and Fax.
you put the right component in. do you have the large black cartridge & if so have you tried it. is your color cartridge full or empty because if empty could cause no ink to be seen when printing as i have the canon bjc 4300 printer
Both of my BCI ink cartridges are new. I took out the older ones thinking that they were out of ink (even though I only printed a total of 5 pages). I am not sure what the large black cartridge is. This is what I have: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...ATVPDKIKX0DER&vi=pictures&img=1#more-pictures
I do not have the BC-20 ink cartridge. I will try it on my other computer later on tonight or tomorrow.
I don't know what is going on. I hope I will not be forced to buy a new printer. I wonder if changing the printhead will solve the problem. I have 4 of them, just I do not want to open them, because I can always sell them for $25 each and $75 should be enough for a new printer if I am forced to get one. I think I will try taking it apart and seeing if there is anything out of place.
how old are the print cart?when you did ddp ideas did ink come out onto the paper towel?.if it did then it cant be the cart unless there dried up or empty.maybe your right sell ink cart buy new printer.its an old printer, anyways ,right?
Yeah, just it seems like I will only be able to get about $200 for $1000 worth of ink. I am positive that my printing the DVD cover screwed it up. Last time I will ever us Nero's cover designer. Photoshop is much better for printing CD/DVD covers.
