Thanks, Rotary, I'll try that first. Maybe I should provide some info about why I need this? I'm working in Thailand and also doing some self-study in Thai. I can read Thai now, and speak very basic Thai, but my listening comprehension is still very poor. When Thais speak, I understand about 1 in 10 words. Thais talk so quickly, often idiomatically, and words are generally very short, so it's easy to miss quite a few words and just not understand the overall meaning at all. Now, in Thailand, you can get various audio tape and CD courses, but they don't really teach you how everyday people talk, like food vendors or taxi drivers. You sort of learn the equivalent of "Good day. How do you do? I am fine, thank you." Not natural! The people in our office usually speak English only, because it's more efficient workwise (quite a few Westerners work here), and of course they are too busy to give me Thai lessons during the day. Anyway, because I can read Thai (which is fortunately mostly phonetic, unlike English), I've bought various Thai movie DVDs with English and Thai subtitles. I play each scene again and again - first with English on, so I get a rough understanding, then the Thai on, so I can read the Thai as the actors speak it and differentiate between the words, then eventually turn the Thai off when I understand 95%+. Now, the thing is, it would be easier if I had the Thai subtitles in printed form in front of me in my lap or on my desk, rather than on screen. It'd save me fiddling with a remote or mouse constantly, and besides, reading printed text on paper is easier on the eyes. Also, if the subtitles were printed, I could read them when I'm not sitting in front of a TV or monitor, like on a bus. Hence, that's why I'm hoping there's a program that can just print them out quickly and easily. Otherwise, the alternative is asking someone in the office to type the Thai manually in Microsoft Word as the subtitles appear. This would be better than nothing, but not easy to do, since they would have to pause and replay the DVD endlessly while typing. It would take them a whole day to do one DVD!
Hmmmm, nope, SubRip does a fine job of the English subtitles, but doesn't support Thai fonts. In Thailand, we have dual-language keyboards, and when you press the ~ key, it changes the mode from English to Thai, so you can type Thai. However, when I do this during the OCR part of the ripping process, it just types a French character, like an "e" or "o" with an accent above it. Therefore, I can't convert the subtitles to Thai text before saving as a .txt file and printing it. I don't unfortunately have time to download, install and test dozens of programs to see what works. It seems a shame there is no program that just arranges the subtitles line-by-line (they are originally stored as some sort of image file, right?), then print them. Any other suggestions?
