First off, I don't have a wireless printer, but I don't think I need one. Here's the situation. I have one computer in my home office, which is connected to my wireless router and modem (with wires). That comp is connected to my printer that I mentioned earlier. I have a wireless laptop that I am using the wireless router for. Is there a way to make it to where I can print wirelessly with the router that I have, or do I need to have a wireless printer too? Any help appreciated. Thanks!
A couple options, you can share the printer on the PC that it's connected to and allow network printing to it. The drawback with that is that the PC it is connected to would have to powered up too to print from another PC. Another alternative is to get a print server and attach the printer to it. Several are listed at NewEgg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...rs&Submit=ENE&Ntk=all&N=0&minPrice=&maxPrice= You can also check your router, some models have print servers built in.
Right click on the printer from the computer it's installed to. Choose "sharing and security", and share it as whatever you wanna share it as. Go to the other computer on your network, go to control panel, printers...add printer. Then choose "from network", it'll take it a sec, navigate to it, and select it. It'll autoinstall drivers, and you should be good. That's the quick and dirty--but you seem intelligent, you should be able to figure it out.
Thanks for the help. I tried what you said TomMelee, and I think you're right. The only problem is, when I check off sharing in the printer settings, I can't tell what it is sharing under, so I can't find it in my laptop. How do I find it on the laptop itself? Thanks again! Jazo
Actually, I think I got it now, the only problem is, it's giving me this error message: The file '*.INF' on (Unknown) is needed.
That's the driver. You can try installing the driver manually on the computer you hope to print from.
