Hey im not sure if this belongs here, but im pretty sure it does. But this my problem, for the past few months ive been using TDK DVD-R's to burn my movies and other stuff and what not. But just recently the last couple days or so my computer completely stopped picking up TDK's when they've worked fine in the past. My DVD-RW Drive is: Sony RW DW-U14A Like I said TDK's have been working perfectly for the longest time and now they suddenly have stopped working. Anyone have a clue on what could be wrong? id really appreciate it
If it is not a burner problem, it may be the media. TDK does not make the media. See link. They just put thier name on it. That is why you willhear people say buy branded media. What you need to check is the media code for the disc's. Here are some tools for the media code. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvdinfopro.cfm Also what software are you using to burn (Nero etc)? Post a burn log for the software. It may provide some answers.
i cant even get to use the burner. My PC isnt even picking up the TDK discs anymore. Thats my problem at the moment, i cant even get to burn anything. My PC doesnt even detect it.
For XP go to the device manager and uninstall the burner. Restart and the driver will reinstall itself.
just tried burning an iso with ImgBurn and i got this error Synchronize Cache Failed! Reason: Internal Target Failure Not sure what that means, any help would be appreciated
try a different brand of media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim it very possible the drive is going or is already bad
well i just burnt a CD-R for music and now im trying Nero Burning Rom and i got this error. Burn Process Failed Could Not Perform End Of Disc At Once Any help on that?
ive tried updating firmware, uninstalling driver and then restarting to it reinstalls and still get internal target failure and the cannot perform disc at once errors
ok i just tried a CD-R and burnt a bin/cue/iso and it worked perfect but yet when i tried DVD-R i get the internal target failure
Have you tried more than one of the TDK DVD-R discs? Maybe you have 1 or 2 or even 3 in a row that are bad . . .
I'm willing to bet $100 that his drive is going kaput. It's probably time to look into investing in a new burner. Lite-On makes top notch drives for about $30.
Hardly. It's Lite-on that dragged the whole burner industry down to the disposable state it's in now.
They've always worked well for me. I've never had a problem with the 3 that I've purchased, and each one is about a year apart in age too, with the most recent one being purchased only a couple of weeks ago. Do you have a source to back your claim up? Just wondering is all, I'm not getting snippy, I'd just like to see some facts because if what you say is true I may start looking to new manufacturers.
