    This movie is another one of those ****ers from Sony. I used DVDFab Decrypter on "When a stranger calls", now I'm trying to use VobBlanker so that I can use DVD Shrink. I tried removing all of the fake/bad cells. When it's finished, and I try to play the movie, it stops after choosing play on the menu. Any ideas? Has anyone backed this up successfully?????

    Hi jmcole
    Did you use the latest version of dvdfab - 2.9.7.9?
    When you were running it thru shrink did it look like the whole movie when Shrink did the analysis?

    I used the same process as I described in the Freedomland thread:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/350409

    It is a little more time consuming and uses some different progs. You should also be able to do this with DVDFab while running AnyDVD in the background. I had success with that method as well.

    It is not a good idea to run AnyDVD with DVDFab Decrypter, the programs will conflict. Use one or the other but not both together.

    You are correct. While I haven't had it happen to me all that often (though I use DVD Dec more than DVD Fab) I should have mentioned that as a caveat. I appreciate the correction. I need to go update an earlier post on another thread.

    @f_magee

    It is so easy to get the two mixed, I use AnyDVD with DVDD all the time but not DVDFab. Cheers to ya :)

    Yes, I am using 2.9.7.9. When I first tried to shrink the movie, I couldn't see any of the movie, that is why I am trying VobBlanker.

    A good, totally free program to try is shrinkto5, it's the response to the demise of DVD shrink. The program comes in two versions, basic (free) and pro ($$), the basic version is really all you need.

    Get it here;
    http://www.shrinkto5.com/software1.asp

    In order to be able to decrypt copy protected DVDs, you'll need the decrypter that works with it (machinist2.dll), it works much like slysoft's anydvd but it's free. The decrypter is adaptive and so requires no updating.

    You can get it here;
    http://www.sendmefile.com/00377470

    Install shrinkto5 then the machinist2.dll and reboot. Run shrinkto5 and open the DVD like you would with DVDshrink, rip to the hard drive the whole DVD or movie only, once done you'll have a VIDEO_TS folder that you can burn to DVD using your favorite application.

    Note: for video quality, select max fluid from the dropdown menu to get the best possible.

    That's all there is to it, and it's free.
