Ok there's a few things I want to get out first - I got the BenQ DQ60 and I now see that in my old posts they say it is a pos because Teac makes it but why is that bad? Are they just not good hardware? do they burn bad quality? or what? I haven't updated to the new F/W that just came out, or loaded QSuite yet, but I was able to successfully burn a couple dvd's and copy a few also with new problems and then all of a sudden it started hanging on me when I would burn them. In DVD Shrink It it would hang during the burning process, sometimes it would get to 7%, others 17% or sometimes aroudn 40%. I've wasted the last 4 dvd's i've put in there because they have all hung. I've tried two different files when burning and both do it. I am burning at maximum burn(16x). What could be causing this? Is it just a bad drive that I need to return or what? I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me how to remedy the problem though. I don't really feel like waiting to get a new one.
Hi, Whilst I can't guarantee the new f/w will resolve your problem. The f/w is meant to go someway in resolving this type of problem. I can only suggest that you try flashing your drive to find out if this works for you. A word of warning this could invalidate your waranty.
ah screw the warranty, it's a $40 dollar drive lol. If it was a $100 then i'd worry but thanks for the info - i appreciate knowing when i'm violating things.. and then i do them anyways haha But i'm going to go home today after work and install qsuite and the f/w and see if it fixes my problems. Lets hope *crosses fingers* Maybe they can make this drive good!
FYI: Switched media and it's working fine now. Must have been a bad set of DVDs... stupid verbatim lol. Popped in my Memorex's and they worked fine. Every single one burned so far (6).
