Hi. I'm having trouble burning a DVD, and was hoping someone might be able to help me.

I'm trying to copy an unencrypted DVD. The image copies to my PC OK, however when I then try and burn to the blank DVD it fails.

I have tried two different programs to burn with, but they both fail to burn the DVD. When using DVD Decrypter to burn to the blank DVD, the write speed goes to the maximum speed, before falling to zero. I don't think this is a problem with the discs, as I've used them before.

My DVD burner has worked perfectly up until now, so I can't work out why it is failing to burn the image to the DVD all of a sudden! It was working fine this morning. Anyone have any ideas?

You say it's unencrypted, but is it a Single Layer? Posting your DVD writer model, Media Brand, Burning speed, etc will help solving your problem.

    Hi

It's a DVD I put together myself, so I'm pretty sure it's a single layer disc.

The disc brand is Hyundai, my DVD writer is BENQ, the burning speed of the Hyundai discs is 8x. It could just be a case of my DVD writer being broken.. I hope that isn't the case though!

Benq is a great burner. You shouldn't have a problem. Have you tried other brands of DVD's? Firmware up to date? Did you have any problems before?

For starters, you should use decrypter when transferring the files to your HDD. I think this will fix your problem. Just copying the files directly can result in not being able to burn the DVD/files without special software like BlindWrite.
