...just passing thru.. let me stick my 5pence in here..the easiest way by far to do this is to just uninstall BOTH Primary and Secondary controllers (as we're talking about Windows here, i'd do the Secondary one first, then the Primary) ..Windows will automatically re-detect them on reboot..
Creaky Thanks for pointing that out again. I guess it got lost when I said it. I also pointed out how to locate which channel a drive is on. @joshuk21 Not all Device Manager listings appear the same. For example Bowler put an optical drive at Primary and one at Secondary becuse he had other connectors for his hard drives. Most people use master and slave on the secondary channel. It doesn't matter, but it keeps people on the same playing field when certain conventions are used. If it's any difficulty, just uninstall them all and then reboot. Like Creaky said, it's Windows and it automatically picks everything back up after rebooting. What is your drive configuration and do you have any SATA drives?
