    I am using the new dvd decrypter program, I have been burning dvds with no problems with this program for months now all of a sudden I can not burn any more dvds because I get an error that says about a hundred things in it, but ends with incompatible formatt! Does this mean that the dvd-rs are not good for my burner? I have an external TDK BURNER.please help
    thanks

    hi

    erm? not sure here, you mention discs have you changed brand? or is it a new batch?

    so you can rip ok but not burn?

    have you uninstalled the app and reloaded it?

    could try a firmware upgrade for the drive.

    use dvdinfo pro or dvd identifier or even dvd decrypter to tell us the make and id dye codes of these discs and the ones you burn ok to!

    love to see the full error message too

    @godzilla0,

    In order for other members to help you better, you need to be more detail when asking a question i.e. what kind of blank, how fast, and did you ripped and burned as MODE, ISO or MODE, FILE F? Why don't you just copy your DVD Decrypter's error log and post/paste it on here, so others can verify and determine what's the real issue here.

    What is a filmware upgrade?

    Where do I get it?

    What does it do?

    I am using a new batch of dvdrs I got from Best Buy?

    You think this is the problem?

    thanks

    Easist thing to me would be just post a DVD Decrypter log of the failed rip. The log will provide us with alot of information.

    Open up DVD Decrypter, hit the letter "L" on your keyboard. A window will pop up at the bottom of DVD Decrypter. (That window is your log) Copy [bold]ALL[/bold] of it and paste it here.

    @godzilla0,

    Do what Jmet said and please post the error log from DVD Decrypter -- this will be helpful to other members and sometime it's easier to see/tell what's the real issue why it failed.

    You said; "I am using a new batch of dvdrs I got from Best Buy? You think this is the problem?"
    So what kind/brand of DVD-R media are you using? If it is Memorex, Dynex, Princo or any cheap unknown brand name, then yes... it's possible that the media you're using is the main issue here. I would recommend high quality media such as genuine Taiyo Yuden (including Fuji & Sony "Made In Japan"), Maxell "Made In Japan", and Verbatim to back up dvd movies only.

    @godzilla0,

    I'm not an expert on DVD Decrypter and its log, but this is what I see and can suggest only. Don't proceed if you don't feel comfortable alright.

    Your dvd writer's firmware is old, its latest firmware is 1.0C -- go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1596 and download the newest firmware, then update it. Most of the time by updating your dvd burner's firmware it will recognize more blank media, not only that but it will also be more compatible with other media codes and the performances will also increase as well.

    I've never use Prodisc media before so I can't really comment that it's good or bad. However, I can recommend you to get some high quality media such as Taiyo Yuden (include both Fuji & SOny "Made In Japan"), Maxell "Made In Japan" and Verbatim. They're top notch media and they're rank #1 in the media technology.

    I would never write/burn using MAX speed. Try lower your speed to 4X or 6X if you can. Sometimes writing too fast will only gives you "coaster" and failure, so if you can trim it down a little lower on the speeds.

    Again, I think your TDK burner can not read/recognize the media you are using, and or it does not like the media in this case. Try to update your burner's firmware if you can. However, the choice is yours to make. On the other hand, upgrading your firmware will also solve the problem most of the time and it may save you from getting "coasters" in the end.

    Your 5 firmware versions behind, you need to update your firmware! Go here and download (click on) "1.0C" : http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1596

    This error message is a direct result of the person using cheap, low quality media. (A firmware update might resolve that though, but get some better media.)

    Prodics's are cheap low quality media, get some better media.

    Edit: Beat me to the punch alkohol! [IMG]

    You can go here to get the "Original" or "Modified" firmware for your drive (which is a NEC 1300A). http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/1x00.html

    Once you have downloaded the firmware, run the .exe file to flash it (flash it = install the new firmware).

    Installing your firmware:

    1. Carefully read the readme that came with the firmware update
    2. Don't run any other programs at the same time
    3. Don't have any disc in your burner at the same time
    4. Restart your PC after you have flashed it.

    I did what you told me in your last message. But the problem now is when I open the new program to flash to my drive to update it. Under select drive it is blank, my TDK burner doesnt show up in the box its just blank. And I can not figure out what to do to get it there. I have been pulling my hair out for the last 2 hours.
    need help.
    thanks
