Anybody help, please? I've been trying to convert some AVI files captured from a DV camcorder using Avi2Dvd but it simply doesn't work. I tried using all other encoders setting them to all options possible. No effect. I think my AVI files are with Microsoft codecs. I tried converting the AVI file using Canopus DV file converter and after the conversion to anything else but Microsoft codecs Avi2Dvd gets the job done. Now, everything would be great if not the fact that after converting with Canopus DV file converter the picture looks really jagged when there's any movement, no matter which conversion option I choose. I already had the same problem with the VirtualDub, in which I couldn't open my AVI files probably missing some codecs and seeing badly distorted picture after conversion. Any ideas what I should do? Find at the log file the 0 byte generated file to focus where exactly the problem appears
Try use Power Video Converter or X Video Converter to change the codec of your avi (set video to Xvid and audio to mpeg layer 3). Then try avi2dvd or Divxtodvd again. Good luck!
Hi scf_au, Thanks a lot for your help - sorry for such a delayed reply but I've been trying all the day long to make some use of either Power Video Converter or X Video Converter and they simply refuse to work. The moment I'm trying to convert anything to AVI using DivX 6.0 codec I get a Feedback Window - Lite (is it supposed to make my life easier?...)with the logo and proud announcement that the file is being encoded to meet the standard. This is as far as it goes and nothing else gets done. I eventually tried using DivXtoDVD as you suggested and to my amazement it works perfectly well with the original AVI files I got. Thanks a lot. Now if I could only figure out how I could make some chapters... cheers
So long as it works. Re. the codec thing, you may try install K-Lite Codec Pack (full or mega version) if your orginal codecs are giving your trouble. Happy dvd editing!
i'm having the same problem. "Power Video Converter or X Video Converter" i tried using both of these programs, but one only converts 50%, and the other one inserts the logo into it, unless you purchase the program. does anybody know any FREE converters?

Using avi2dvd i have tried to encode an avi file but the sound is 3 secs to early. How can i correct this?
hi scf_au, i was having the same problem cotokurwa was.. so i tried doing what you suggested to fix the problem. but the only problem is, both of the converters you mentioned cost money to work properly.. cause the trials only do 50% or put the logo on the video. i'm just wondering if you know of a FREE coder that will work just the same? cause i have no money to spare on programs right now.

If space is not a problem, you can always add more files to VSO before converting. Just keep adding before hitting 'convert'.
i was using VSO DivXtoDVD, and it worked fine on the first file i tried.. but now i'm trying to do a bigger file which is 713,942 KB. and about mid way through my computer randomly restarts. i've tried it 3 times and it restarts about the same spot each time.. about mid way through the process. i know it's not something with my computer because it only does it when i'm trying to do this. i've also watched the avi completely through, so i don't think it's something with it. also this program uses alot of my resources slowing my computer down, and it takes quite a while to do a file.. it's estimate was around 2 hours i believe for the bigger file i was trying, and about an hour or so through is when it restarts. should it be hogging all the resources and taking so long as well? do you know another program i can use, that may work better?
VSO is really a very effective program, fast, with great tolerance for errors. So maybe you could try terminate some of your background jobs (e.g. firewall, multitasking) while it works. But you could always try other programs (e.g DVDSanta).
