Ttrying to convert a movie which has a3 audio. It was split in two parts so i joined it. Then i extracted the ac3 audio using virtua dub mod. Now when it comes to converting it, TMPG enc encounters an unknown problem and closes. This problem has happened 3 times, ranging from 40% completion to 85%, I have tried audio only and video and audio. Is there some setting that is wrong or do i need to download something else? Cheers
Can somebody help me please, i am absolutely stuck. TMPG only encounters this unknown problem and closes on this movie with ac3. The first time ive had an avi with ac3 sound. Im sure it is some setting to do with the ac3. Any advice guys?
Sometimes a problem can occur when combining files. This happens especially when combining files in a highly-compressed format using a non-professional combining tool. I'm not exactly sure, but that would be my guess. I would try using TMPGEnc on one of the original files and see what happens.
http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/AC3ACM.zip this program makes tmpgenc recognise ac3 audio so you dont have to convert to wav before encoding. just install and thats it, now tmpgenc will load up and encode ac3 audio without a hitch.
iTS OK GUYS I THINK THE FILE IS FAULTY OR DAMAGED. THE AVI IS SPLIT INTO 2 DISCS. I TRIED THEM JOINED IT DIDNT WORKED. TRIED PART 1 CONVERTED FINE. TRIED PART 2 UNKNOWN ERROR SO THIS MEANS PART 2 IS FAULTY.
That's what I thought. You can probably fix the error by running it through VirtualDub for a quick recompress... And by the way... Your capslock key is on. Just thought you should know.
if the header is b0rk you can always fix it. by rewriting the avi container back. use direct stream copy as for the recompress mention. i only know fast and normal recompress on vdub. use fast recompress if you don't have any filters set up. what fast recompress does is that it directly unacks the video without further processing, such as converting the colourspace to rgb. dull processing does this, cause it is easier to process the image (filters). with fast recompress it stays in Yuv/YV or the original state. keeping the from the loss of quality.
Righto. So if I were you, I would open the file with VirtualDub and run it through with Direct Stream Copy. If that doesn't work, move your way up the settings each time until it does work: First with Fast Recompress, then Slow, and finally Full Processing Mode to completely rewrite the avi.
Just want to say thank you have a DVDRip Xvid AC3 file could not hear voices just back ground... thanks for this thread all...
