I purchased a program to convert .AVI to .MPG and now I need to burn it to a DVD to play in the DVD player. After the conversion to several formats - DVD, VCD, SVCD or Standard MPEG-1 I get one file that is a .MPG so I have burned that to a DVD. It does not play as the DVD format and I can get it to play on one DVD player as a VCD. My DVD does support all formats. I used two different DVD burning software programs but it will not work with decrypter because it does not support the format. All I can do is transfer the MPG file as data so this appears to be wrong. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks

You need to author the mpeg in a DVD Authoring program so the player will be able to recognise it as a DVD. There are plenty of authoring programs around- some basic ones are freeware e.g ReJig.

    Hi there,

I use VSO ConvertXtoDVD to convert all those .avi / .mpg etc.... files directly to DVD Format.

Also has a built in burn engine, so all I use is 1 software to get my files to play on my DVD Player.
