    hi all,
i've been trying to download firmware to my eurovox 1000 sl. i've followed the great installation guide as posted by HiTech but when i get as far as downloading the firmware on to the box i keep getting the message "waiting for response from receiver". this seems to be a common problem and i've been going through all the other threads which are of a similar nature but i can't seem to find a solution to the problem.
my laptop uses xp and i have to use a usb adapter for the null modem cable.
if anybody out there has found a solution to this problem i would really appreciate some help because i've spent hours trying to get it to work and i still haven't had any joy.
    thanks

a lot of people are having problems updating using the usb connection,if you can go to friends computer and use a null modem cable 9 pin female to female it would make things alot easier and faster

i've checked around with my friends and i don't have access to a computer with a null modem port, i've been hoping that it would be possible to get it to work using the usb adapter, the only pc that i have access to has no spare serial ports so it would even be difficult to buy a null modem port just to try it.
thanks for the reply though and i'll keep it in mind because i think i'm running out of other options

mate you can get a PCI 2x serial port card for your pc. fleabay sell them for about £11 delivered. It'll be a lot easier then using one of those serial to USB converters. You'll then need to insert this into your PC (not laptop) and install the drivers, then you'll be off and away with 2 serial ports..
