Hey guys, I just installed an older Xecutor 2.0 or 2.1 on my XBox which is 1.0. Every tutorial I've seen either says to burn the bios.bin file on some media and it should automatically flash to bios OR Use the OzxCD to start the flash. I've tried both these methods on DVD+RWs, DVD-R, CD-R and CD-RW. Some media won't read (which I assume is normal) but the ones that do, all I get is a message saying "Loading linuxboot.cfg from CDROM. Unable to find it, halting" If anyone could give me some help on this it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You could try adding a dummy file to the ISO image before burning; create a folder with the BIOS.BIN file add a 100Mb file call it ABC.dat, create the ISO file and then burn the image. This helps cromwell read the CD/DVD...
im havin the same problem with the 2.2 lite plus... i have tried everything all types of media (tdk dvd+r/dvd-r/dvd+rw/dvd-rw, memorex dvd+/- r/rw, imation and tdk cdr/rw) and it still doesnt load, i am about to give up and get teh flasher, any sugestions b4 i do that? i am using nero to burn abc.dat (102 megs) and bios.bin (Xecuter2.Build.4978) am i missing somehting. i have also tried making the .iso with xiso proir to burning... htanks
I'm having a similar problem with an Xecuter 2.2 Lite Plus, except that it appears to read my media and find my bios.bin file, but always comes up with the error: "Unknown Flash! Halting!" I have the switch set to Unprotect, and I've tried several bios files of different sizes (1mb and 512k), so I don't know what the problem is.
Is it required to make an .iso, or can I just copy the files to the CD directly? It seems to read my CD-RW just fine (it detects the CD label and bios.bin file), but still always hits the: "Unknown flash! Halting" message.
Actually I finally got mine to work. Seems that the media was the problem. The Thompson drive in my xbox would only read DVD-R or DVD-RWs (I had tried CD-RWs and DVD+RWs). I still had to use the OZXFlash cd method because my cromwell 1.8 bios would not automatically flash it. Now I'm happy to say that I'm running the latest Xecutor bios with the latest EvoX dashboard and a new 120 Gig Maxtor! Wewp!
MAKING THE FLASH CD. Look, ignore those outdated tutorials using OZXFLASH. You don't need that anymore, You really hack dont need it.. the new cromwell can flash on its own. 1) Download a good hacked bios from the usual sources. I suggest the X24977.bin(256K) bios, really works! 2) FLASH ONLY one of the two banks! That way if you mess it up you can reboot to cromwell and try again. Here's how: 3) FIRE UP X2BE. Choose 512k bios. Yes, 512k, not 1mb! Fill in the first two banks with your X2 hacked bios that you downloaded. Then save the results as bios.bin (the default file.) 4) BURN IT. Get Nero and a blank CDRW. Take a 100mb random file on your HDD. Rename it to 0dummy.bin. ( I use winzip to compile my file about 100MB and save it as winzip.. it worked also)The 100MB file I used MP3 songs and compile as Odummy.zip file. Add this file and your bios.bin file to your compilation. Burn at 2x, DAO/96, FINISH CD. This is your BIOS CD. 5) FLASH IT. Turn off your XBOX. Set the external switches to "ENABLED, BANK 2, UNPROTECTED." Turn it on and get cromwell. When it prompts, drop in your newly minted bios CD. Wait for it to do its thing. When its done, it will turn off the XBOX. 6) USE IT. With the power still off, set the external switches to "ENABLED, BANK 1, PROTECTED." Say a quick prayer and turn on your XBOX. You should get a flubber with the Xecutor 2 message. Congrats! IF YOU EVER NEED TO REFLASH, just set the external switches, with the power off, to "ENABLED, BANK 2, UNPROTECTED" . Then turn on your XBOX. It should boot into Cromwell and you can then reflash your bios. sdfile@hotmail.com more info go and look U2mir at xecuter2.com
Listen Guys, If you got to this point (buying modchip,Xbox etc.) just spend a little extra $$$ and buy x2 Lite Prog and use x2cable.zip its the easiest way I know! be forwarned make sure screen saver is NOT set to activate for a least 11 min.
BUY THE X2 Lite Programmer. forget the CD-RW as some of you will not have a Samsung DVD player( which is the only one consistent with reading CD-RW's) I went through the same scenarios as you guys until I bought the Programmer, trust me...........I cant emphasize enough!
ok... so i bought the progammer, but on the lite + there is no place to hook up the ground wire so i took off the little caseing and hooked up the ground wire to the hole for the screw... when im flashing now though... im getting sync problems.. im using usb with nothing else attached and no parallel cable... plugged directly into my laptop... any help is apreciated... thanks
This is a little off topic, but I didnt want to make a new thread just for this question... My xbox was made in 2001 so it would probably be a V1.0 correct?
here is where you can go to find your version of xbox http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/determine_version_of_xbox.htm
