i bought sony DRU820A and the maximum speed appear in nero is 8x while im using LG DVD+R 16x and i have the newest framware or whatever its name is ????
The latest firmware for the DRU 820a is 1.ob and can be found at www.rpc1.org - just checked there. You really do not want to burn at the full rated speed of your disks! Look at the forums here. You will find consistent recommendations to burn at HALF the rated speed; ie. 8X for 16X disks. Helps the quality of the burn and reduces errors.
i have the firmware 1.ob and i know that is not recommended to burn with maximum but there is no 12x or 16x and i bought it as it 16x
Hello. If your firmware doesn't contain a write strategy for that particular media to write it at 16X, the 16X speed will not be a option. If your firmware doesn't recognize this newer media at all, it tries reverting to a default write strategy for generic 16X media, which is probably an 8X max burn. LG 16X media is likely made by CMC Mag one of the cheapest suppliers and poorest quality manufacturer of media. Many burner makers limit the burning speed of poor media. That may be the case here. Good media is made by Taiyo Yuden (available online), Verbatim, and Fuji and Sony labeled as Made in Japan (usually by Taiyo Yuden).
I don't understand why you would want to burn at 16x I use 4x I tried faster speeds really don't remember if was any faster is it ? has any one put a time clock on it ?
I have the same dive running firmware 1.0B using Verbatum (MCC004) burning at 16X quality scans look much better than 8X and 4X. Good Luck Spacedust
