Hello, I am using Nero products for quite some years successfully. One day though burning of a dvd failed for an unknown reason. Then I saw that everything that I tried to do with my Nero 8 (every application, anything) failed giving a windoe that said that it failed and maybe installing the software again might fix the problem..
So I tried installing Nero Version 8.3.2.1 trial and see if it all goes well. The installation was going perfectly untill a series of windows came up saying that this dll or that dll failed to register and that was an error numbered 14001 , I think and facility 4.
This kept going on all night that I tried.Disabling my Nod 32 firewall and antivirus didn't work, trying in safe mode also...Please help.Running xp pro

    uninstall nero

then use whatever version nero removal tool you had installed

    v6 get v6 removal tool
    v7 get v7 removal tool
    v8 get v8 removal tool

then load new nero back in

Thanx 4 the fast response.I have lost my sleep over this problem. It seems that I have tried everything to install this piece of software, but my pc seems to be really stubborn.
I uninstalled nero as you said, not with the windows uninstaller , but with: "Your Uninstaller!2008", which uninstalls software and cleans traces of that software on the registry and cleans them as well. Then I used the nero clean tool v8 (that's the version that I'm installing-uninstalling all those days, and also that's the veraion of my old Nero software). Nothing there....

Still everything goes right, when these countless windows pop-up occur that contain various error code number but the most common window says: ERROR 14001
    FACILITY 7

I have googled the world up, but nothing about those numbers.
I also repeated that sequence (Needless to say, having disabled firewall and antivirus protection in any case), in safe mode...
This time the setup doesn't even begin because:"System administrator has set policies to prevent this installation".

I also have tried (given the idea fromthe last error), fixing with a software: "Security Descriptor Migration and Editing Tool" that I downloaded and used accordingly from Windows Microsoft support forums. That tool is supposed to turn all registry values( If I got that right) back to normal, so as to .....register(I guess?).

Anyway, I you even have the slightest clue, please respond!!

hmm very wierd? you installing to C:\ drive?

do you have plenty of hard drive space? 20 gig ?
    -----------
this a download nero? or off a cd?

    -----------

    run regedit from start menu/run

then search all instances off "nero" and "ahead" and delte the entries, do this after uninstall - and (nero removal tool use from nero website)

Hello again , thank you again for your concern...

Yes, I figured that maybe it was a problem , that was caused by the place that I install Nero.At first I indeed had installed Nero in a different from windows drive. Then I tried in C:.That (as you'd imagine by now) didn't also work.
The truth is that my C: is a partition of 25 Gb only and the space left is only 11 Gb.But that doesn't really make sense, because that didn't stop me from installing anty kind of software in the past. And I mean in C: or K:, or E: or any drive. At this point I must say that Nero (version 8), was originally installed in drive K:(the other drive), until it stopped working.

This is the download from the official site of Nero and this is the trial download.

As for the last one you told me, I also searched the registry and started deleting entries, but apart from the fact that they are countless(!), some of them are part of other programs entry I think, so I was afraid to delete them all... (I was also tired by the constant F3,Del,Enter).
    Any other ideas?
