    You're very welcome! Did you get it to work?

    I have been able to make a copy that plays on my PC, but it still gives me nothing but black on chapter one in all of my stand alone DVD players. Well actually it gives me black for a few minutes, then the movie starts. I know with decrypter, the updated versions would remove this dead space.

    It surprises me that AnyDVD costs so much money and doesn't work as advertised. Decrypter was free and kept up to date by Lightning. It is already Monday following the DVD release date and AnyDVD is not updated. Guess I'm just frustrated.

    Even if it does work for some people, it doesn't work for everyone. In my mind that means it isn't really fixed. I know some people have problems with perfectly valid software - but this is not the case with LOD's encryption.

    Maybe people are saying it's working cause it is breaking the encryption and they can live with the black screen??

    I was really hoping DVDFab might be a decent replacement for Decrypter.

    Did you rip first with DVD Decrypter? If so, which mode did you rip in? Was it "File" mode? or Was it "ISO" mode?

    jfm025 - There is no need to start a new thread or post in a different thread simply to get more attention to your problem. Please in the future only post to one thread.

    jfm025, I have got this movie coming in the mail. I will attempt the backup useing ANYDVD and Recode2 which is the program that I usually use. If they won't do it, I have about 10 others that I can try. I will keep you posted.

    @jmet3

    I used Decrypter in File mode.

    I also tried copying the video_ts folder from the disc to the harddrive with AnyDVD running in the background. Then using Shrink or Recode to burn it to blank disc.

    Even with AnyDVD running, I get errors from Shrink and Decrypter. Recode hasn't given me the errors, but I get the black screen on the disc.

    I have posted the answer to all your problems in other forum threads, but I will post it here too. First, decrypt the DVD into folder #1 using DVDFab decrypter with AnyDVD runnning in the background. Then take folder number one and using VOBBlanker send the DVD to folder #2. Use VOBBlanker just like it comes out of the box. DO NOT change the default settings. Almost there. Take folder #2 and use DVD Shrink to size it into folder #3. Take folder #3 and use Nero to burn your now perfect copy.
    The secret is VOBBlanker it removes the bogus cells. I worked for hours screwing aroung on this only for the satisfaction of licking the minds at Sony. The movie itself is not worth backing up!LOL.

    @robwilk,
    You hit sony's latest attempt to stop us. DVDFabDecrypter has been updated to fix your very problem:
    It looks like that file is where you hit the protection scheme.

    So I read the forum and tried AnyDVD running in the background and used DVDFab along with DVD Shrink. This method didn't work. I could only back up the last part of Lords of Dog town and some of the garbage that comes with it.

    What did work was running AnyDVD in the back and using DVD Decrypter once the file was done I then used DVD Shrink and presto my back up was a sucess.
