Every time i pause i pause a dvd in media center or powerdvd the movie starts to make a sound like its skipping. The movies i use are original copies. I can play any other video like divx xvid and etc fine but the dvd does this. Any idea? thanks.

Does the video pause properly or does it jitter/skip?
Do you hear a loop of a particular sound/speech playing back constantly or does it stop after a few seconds?
What version of PowerDVD are you using?

I have both Media Center (2006 Edition) and PowerDVD and this never occurred to me. It could be some interference on the disc, dirt, fingerprints, etc... trying cleaning them.

Thanks for the reply. It does skip and loops the sound i paused the movie on. I think it could be the video card i just installed. Its an ATI card with AVIVO and when i installed Purevideo DVD Decoder The Video Was all fuzzy i uninstalled it the fuzzy went away but the the sound was still skipping. Maybe the drivers for the video card? Thanks.

Definitely update them if haven't already done so that's a start right there..

    Go here: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

As for PureVideo DVD Decoder, that sounds like a dodgy codec to me. What I would do is uninstall that, and any other individual codecs you have.

Then download a good quality codec pack like K-Lite, it will allow to play 98% of video formats out there:

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

Install it with recommended settings, it will replace your original Windows codecs with much better ones.
Also, use Media Player Classic that comes with it and try playing your DVD's on that. MPC is a lot less sensitive to DVD skipping than PowerDVD.
