If I burn a DVD from an ISO or img file they work fine. If I use Nero or CloneDVD to burn the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS to a Video DVD (DVD-ROM (ISO)) I can not play the disk in any of my home DVD players. But they will play in the DVD player in my Excursion. I have tried both DVD- and DVD+, almost every manufacturer of media.

I have run out of ideas. Can anyone help?

Below are the steps you should use to burn a DVD from a VIDEO_TS folder...

Start Nero burning Rom and follow the below images...

Yes, I have tried that path, along with the DVD-ROM, DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO) settings. Some won't play in any DVD player.

The main player I am trying to get the disks working in is the Sony DVPCX995V.

Like I said previously, if I burn from an ISO on on either DVD- or DVD+ it works fine, so its not the format or the media. I believe it has to be a setting for the DVD-Video option. I looked for a way to ensure the Book Type is set to DVD-ROM, by default it in Nero it is set to Automatic. So selecting DVD-Video should set it on the DVD+, is that correct?? Or should I just set it to DVD-ROM?

    thanks,
    Greg
Does Nero have a Region setting the I could have messed up?

Try using IMGBurn which is a free burning app. Here is a Guide on how to use IMGBurn build option to burn your VIDEO_TS folder.

"Playback feature may not be available"

    Still works in the vehicle.

No luck with folder2iso either. Same error message. Maybe it is just not meant too be.....

Does anyone know what the error "Playback Feature may not be available" really means?

It means the player does not recognize the format. I have an RCA player that flat refuses to play DVD-RW disks that were burned on the computer, but has no trouble at all playing the same disks burned by my set top DVD Player/Recorder. My advice would be to continue burning from an ISO or img file, since they DO work for you.

    Just my 2 cents worth..

You say you can burn ISOs. Are these ISOs you have downloaded? It just seems odd that you can burn and play some ISOs but you can not make an ISO with 1 of the above programs and work. The only thing I can think of is the files that are in your VIDEO_TS folders are not correctly authored.

Yes, when I say an ISO or IMG, it is a file that I have downloaded. The only one I have had an issue with is on that I know now is a Region 2 DVD.

I have played around with re-authoring the files, but that has not worked either. It just maybe that the 3 different home DVD players I have just can not play the disks. I have a couple of other things I am going to try. (different software and different media). Then I give up

    Thanks for everything.

I do have one other possible solution....

Could it be because the DVDs I am burning have no region and my DVD player requires a region??

I am using the Sony DVP-CX995V, does anyone know if it requires a region on the DVD?? Is there a place I can look it up?

    Thanks,

    Greg
