i had originally bought tdk discs that worked great on my venturer dvd player. unfortunately, they were expensive locally, so i ordered ritek dvd-rs online and now only my ps2 will play these discs. i'd like to get a dvd player that can play the riteks, if anyone knows of any? in addition, i'd also like to be able to get a dvd player with speaker outputs so that i can hook my venturer speakers up to it? otherwise i'd miss the surround sound! thanks!

i'm looking at a player like one of these, with surround sound included. of course i don't know if it would play a ritek dvd-r or not, which is why i'm wondering if any of you guys know.

also, if there are other, better suggestions for a decent surround sound system with a dvd player, please let me know.

The Ritek/Ridata (with the G05 "purple" dye) are highly compatible with nearly all stand-alone DVD players. Personally, I would but TY over Ritek though. Check the media forum for recommendations and links to sale (i.e., at supermediastore.com)

If you're really worried, then by all means.. 1) buy media, 2) burn media, 3) go to Circuit City or Best Buy and see if the model you want plays the media you bought, 4) take media out of dvd player, 5) stand on media and rub it into the floor with your foot to create a random pattern of hideous scratches, 6) throw salt over should six AND ONLY SIX times (in recognition of AD's 6th birthday), 7) pick up the now mutilated disc, 8) spit on it (I mean, why not, at this point! Heheh!), 9) insert into dvd player, 10) cross fingers and pray to the heathen Gods of the DVD burning, 11) be delightfully surprized that your media works without skipping... until you get to the outer edges of sanity (i.e., beyond 4464 KB!).

haha. i'll have to try that. i don't know why my current dvd player only will play the cheaper tdk brand and not the riteks. that bothers me some, but i suppose it's time to get another HTiB anyway. thanks.
