i take it that you are set-up with the LCD as the only display connected? Obviously you are seeing the bios screen so the video connection exists but it must be something to do with the resolution setting in windows because windows is not displaying. If it was me, and to troubleshoot, I would try connecting a monitor up (pc monitor) over vga or dvi as the primary monitor in N/vidia control panel (or ATI Catalyst)and have the LCD as a second display. Then use dualview or clone mode until you get windows desktop to display on the LCD. In clone mode the resolution for both displays will be exactlythe same. In dualview you can have different resolutions on each but thesecond display (LCD) will only show the desktop background without start menu, icons etc. You might find that your sony will only accept HD resolutions over HDMI input such as 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080.
