    Installed Samsung SH-S182M

It is recognized in my BIOS
    MOBO - Asus A7N8X Deluxe
CPU - AMD Athlon XP 2600 & 1 GIG Ram running XP Pro

It is recognized in device manager of Windows XP as: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M

    I have latest firmware installed - SB02

Windows Media Player says I have no disc in drive.

Nero 6 Ultra says same thing.

Data CD does work. I can put in the Samsung CD and it loads just fine.

Media CD's and DVD's are not recognized.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

I got my own answer and thought I'd post it.

I just got off phone with Tier 2 tech at 1-800-SAMSUNG.

He told me there was firmware problems with this drive and I would have to send it in. I just bought it at Best Buy, so it's actually going back and I'm buying a different brand.

I think the issue is with certain computers, not all of them. I bought the drive based on good reviews, but I think the problem may be they have compatibility problems with some computers.
