I was wondering if anybody could help....?

I have a Radeon Excalibur 9200AGP Vivo Edition 128MB Graphics Card. I have been having pc problems since i got it the first minor problem is when i set my display setting colour to 32MB the desktop runs slow and everything seems to refresh twice. Secondly during playing a lot of games my pc will just crash and reboot completly. I have the up-to-date drivers from the ATI webpage but the problem persists.

    My Comp Specs are -

    Pent 4 2.4 speed
    80gig hard drive
512 RAM with regular soundcard that came with my pc.

Also the AGP setting on the ati box says it is 8x but my comp will only allow AGP at 4x. I will be grateful for any help!

Dang, (a) what't the refresh on the monitor set to? (b) I take it the video acceleration is set to max? (c) Is there a possibility the card is screwd? (Test on another computer) (d) as for the reboots: unstable memory? overheating core?

Sorry mate i should have put the refresh rate in its is 1024 x 768.....i should also note that on some games the card works fine with no problems and yes the hardware acceleration is maxed

1024 x 768 is the Screen Resolution not refresh rate...

Refresh rate is measured in Hz (hertz)

Right Click Desktop -> Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Monitor

    Screen refresh rate....

    Regards
    CoZZa

Well 60Hz would be the reason why you say its "refreshing twice" .. try increasing it. The higher the better.

Also, under the same setting that cozza1987 gave to you, make sure that the name of your monitor is the one listed and not a generic monitor.

If yours is not listed, then you have to get the .inf file for it off of the manufaturer's website.

Thanks for that! Changing the refresh rate has solved the desktop problem but the game problem still persists

Can u be more specific when you say "crash"? There are about a dozen completely different ways things can crash. :)

Is it possible the system is overheating? Or even just something like just the memory subsystem?

Here is an update, sorry i havent posted anything on here for a few days. Ive tried all different screen resolutions and refresh rates and the problem is still occuring it happens all the time on Euro 2004 game as for the system overheating i am pretty basic on computers could you explain this more and give me more options to try i would be most grateful. I know a while back when my system rebooted it would come up when windows restarted that my system had just recovered from a serious error and when i posted the report it stated that the problem was due to the graphics card and the ATI website offers no help at all to me really.

Does it crash just on euro 2004, try using another game. Also have you got all the latest catalyst drivers if not try getting them from the website.

Could just be that this game makes the pc generate alot of heat. What is your cpu temperature on each of the games, this may solve the problem. Or it could be something to do with the game but i wouldnt have thought it would have restarted the pc.
