I just bought a 25 pack of the new Memorex DVD-R's. The package was gold and different from the blue I used to buy and the discs are different too. It has the quote "is it live or is it memorex" in the middle part. My problem is they burn fine and my burner still works fine but these DVD's wont play in any DVD players. It plays in one old one that i have but i have tried them on two new ones and they wont work. Does anyone else ahve this problem or help?

Try burning at 4x or slower. Memorex media is generally crappy nowadays. Download DVD Info Pro and see who the manufacturer is.

yeah the same thing happend to me. i cant understand why a big company like memorex, that HAD a good name would let cmc mag make disc for them. maybe they will get the hint when sales drop.

Yeah memorex is def. some of the WORST blank media you can buy ,iam sure they will ID out as CMC Mag. Stick with TY.Verbatim,Ritek,or Maxell. burn at 4X max and you might try DVD plus R instead of the DVD dash R and see if that helps.

I wish I would've read this thread before I bought a 25 pack of memorex DVDs. My PS2 wouldn't even read movies, but my sisters DVD player did and the resolution was crappy at best. I haven't had any problem with memorex CDs,just the DVDs. From now on I'm sticking with Maxell!

Give it time on those Memorex CD's. They too will probably give you problems. Mine are. They do come in nice colors though :)

Well like I said the CDs worked great for music and PSX backup games (so far). That's why I chose that brand for DVD. When it comes to CDs I've had good results with hp. I consider them good, and they're usually on sale at Staples too.

For CD's, since I don't buy in bulk online like DVD's, I mainly stick with Fuji and Sony. So far those are the only ones that have passed the 'still playing good after several years' test.
