Hey, I think I'm in the correct place for this, if not, just point me in the right direction! Anyways, I was sitting here enjoying some Sniper: Ghost Warrior when my computer just randomly restarted(I was monitoring my temperature's and nothing was near over-heating). As the computer restarted it went into the boot screen and now just gives me the message: Verifying DMI Pool Data ................ AMD Data Change...Update New Data to DMI! Boot from CD/DVD : Boot from CD/DVD : I've been running my computer without change to programs and hardware for the past six or so months with no issues shutting down or restarting. Now, however, it refuses to move past this point. Any help would be appreciated!
Yes it does. I've been looking around online and many people have suggested resetting my CMOS which I have done. The result was an Error regarding my CMOS and then it continued back the boot screen with the same issue still at hand. Could my CMOS battery be dead? There was a post regarding the same issue but with a different solution, and the poster spoke of an option to run an HDD Diagnose. Unfortunately I have no idea as to how I am supposed to do this.
set the time & date in the bios, save changes then shutdown the computer & disconnect the power cord or turn off the power bar for a few hrs. powerup the pc & go into the bios to see what it's current time & date is.
Alrighty, I tested it and it seems as though the battery isn't the problem as it saved the settings. I guess I should throw in my system spec's as well just in case. see if can boot off your windows dvd & see if it sees the hd. i'm thinking your windows is messed up causing the non-boot but not certain.
Nope, no luck. I've downloaded a self booting HDD Diagnostic ISO that I am going to try and see if my HDD has failed somewhere.
Well, I pop in my DVD and I hit enter to boot from it; from there it only gives me the option to restore/repair Windows(which I have tried) or to completely re-install Windows. If there is some other way please let me know. I have never had this problem before so unfortunately I'm new to all of this. I really appreciate your patience and help.
the dvd does see the hard drive so it appears to be windows software corruption. is there stuff you need on the drive? do you have a spare hd or another pc with sata connector on motherboard to pull off your data so you can reload windows on 1st hard drive?
Nope, but I was in the market for a new HDD anyways as 320GB doesn't do it for me anymore. It would seem that now would be a good time to pick it up and then just transfer the files over after.
While you are at it, install a 64bit OS; it will unlock 1-2GB of your wasted ram, depending on if your video cards are 512MB or 1024MB. Might as well make it win7 x64...vista64 makes vista32 look good!
