I have some rather large avi xvid files that I'm trying to burn using Nero 7. For instance, one file size is 2.63 gigabyte. Now I'm not technically having any problems with burning them, I load up nero, and at first I tried using the ISO compilation to burn on a standard 4.7gb 8x dvd-r by Imation. Nero responded with an error, saying that the file size was too large and that I should switch to UDF compilation, which I did and it burned fine. But then on playback on my stand-alone Philips DVP-642 dvd player, the last hour or so was cut off of the movie. This also happened with another file, but not quite as much was cut off because the movie wasn't quite as long. Here are the details on the actual files themselves. Length...........3 hr, 34 min, 37 sec Video............1303kbps - ForcedFilm 23.976fps 15% comp check....424 b/(p*f), encoded at .297 = 70.0% AVI size.........2.63 GB (2,831,499,264 bytes) Length...........3 hr, 20 min, 35 sec Video............994kbps - ForcedFilm 23.976fps 15% comp check....333 b/(p*f), encoded at .227 = 68.0% AVI size.........2.03 GB (2,181,382,144 bytes) Can anyone give me any suggestions or tips as to what I might have done wrong to make it so the whole file didn't play? I'm not a total n00b at burning dvd's, but I'm more than willing to admit that this is over my head, and I would appreciate any help I could get. Thank you.
A normal movie of around 2 hours duration is around 700mb in AVI format...it normally blows out to around 2.5g after transcoding. You have an AVI file of 2.63 gb, which is around 4 times the normal movie so in theory once converted it would blow out in size to around 10gb. Are you sure that the files are AVI and 2.63 as stated.
Yes, I'm sure. What I pasted was a quote from the description of the files themselves. I wouldn't think that I should need to use a DL disc for them, and as far as I know others are able to burn them fine.
