Hi right .......i have a new PC with a SATA Pioneer Dual layer drive. It keeps erroring as soon as it starts to burn images. some burn ok. and also when I'm burning a video files with DVD flick/ imgburn, it errors as soon as it goes to burn, the file created with DVD flick had audio syncing problems basically i tried to watch the file on a DVD player that plays Divx, it was audio out of sync (the files plays OK on my PC Klite codec, WMP) so i went to burn to a DVD, but it error-ed on my SATA Pioneer burner i selected the create ISO option too this also had the same error on burning the ISO separately i tried another method, i unpacked the ISO with winrar to burn the DVD files in DVD shrink, the audio was out of sync, same with the MPEG DVD flick creates its like i have 2 problems 1 with DVD flick 1 with the actual burning of some image files, (I have tried to burn a separate image of something else with nero) It's probably something straight forward but its outside of my skill level what going on ? Can anyone help?

hi i don't think your right i had the same burner but a IDE version and same media on my last PC this setup Media :TDK disks Burner: Pioneer SATA all brand new they should work together every post on After dawn gets a little: "Mobile phone..........get one like mine" Last time i had drive errors, everyone started posting/banging on about media quality, and it was just the drive burnt out, which no-one spotted. Could there be some other possible reasons for this anyone
I just got a pack of Office depot -R discs and ImgBurn gives the same error message. I can burn the same disc with Nero, just not ImgBurn and ImgBurn created the ISO. I can put a +R in the same burner and ImgBurner will burn it just fine even @16X. So I think it's the ImgBurn program not liking the -R discs in my burner Optiarc NEC 7200Sata. It is not a problem since I never hardly use -Rs discs. ImgBurn will burn the same discs -Rs in my Litey 20A1Sata. Strange conflict.
I just got image burn to burn a bin cue image and i have used nero to burn a 'single file' image (not bin cue) both nero and Imgburn have burned some images and not others I'll run some more tests
8x worked OK on an image that 16x wouldn't oh crap are TDK -R rubbish is it part of a different problem that my burner wont burn at full speed? I kind of like burning at 16x
Different media burns differently on different burners. The only way to tell is to burn at different speeds and see which speed is good for that media. I was given some CMC_MAG from a neighbor that would only give decent results at 12x. My TY's give me excellent results at 6x.
@dialysis you burning 8X or 16X at 6X? My OptiarcNEC7200S wants to burn my SonyBranded TYT02 8Xs at 16X! Seems slow for such excellent media.
I burn my Sony discs at 8x and 10x. I burn my TY's at 6x and 8x. Never a problem. 8x at 6x. 16x at 8x and 10x.
@dialysis The sonys I'm talking about ARE TY 8X +Rs. I'm burning them at 8X. Are the TYs you are using 8X or 16X?? I'm burning all the other media i use Sony- their brand , Office depot- store brand and verbatim- all+Rs- now @16X without any problems-using Optiarc NEC 7200S and Lite_on 20A1S- both 20X burners.
My TY's are 8x. I burn on my usb drive at 6x and my internal at 8x. My sony's are 16x. On my internal drive I burn at 10x. Both drives are Lite-On's.
lol... These guys have given you some excellent advice even tho they went into some detail about their drives and media likes. I think you should give 8X a go until you work around your burn issues. Pioneers are excellent burners but aren't know for liking most media above 12X burn speed. I have 2 or 3 Pioneer DVR-112D drives and they just don't like to burn above 12X with consistency. I understand wanting to burn fast but you're only saving a couple of minutes between 8X and 16X speed. Stick with the 8x for now and when you have that mastered with your media you might give 12X a go. good luck to you... ....gm
cheers thanks for the input. i might get on to the computer store i got the PC from. is there a way of running tests on a drive to show how it is performing? like a program i can use, to give a report or something. (I'm getting quite a few too many coasters using trial and error. )
fixed now i hope 1 problems with pioneer burner not compatible with my pc 2 the other problems was VBR on a file fixed by VirtualDub 1) File -> "Open video File" 2) Check that Audio -> "Source audio" is set 3) Audio -> "Full processing mode" 4) Audio -> Compression -> 5) File -> "Save WAV" (that will make the large WAV, like 1GB for a movie) 6) Then, Audio -> "WAV audio", select the WAV saved in previous step 7) Audio -> "Full processing mode" (still should be set) 8) Audio -> Compression -> whatever you want here, but Lame MP3 mentioned above sounds good or AC3 9) Video -> "Direct stream copy" 10) File -> "Save as AVI" as choose your name and wait some minutes A nice clean AVI. Try opening it again with VirtualDub to make sure that the error message has gone away, and view it to make sure audio is in sync. AUDIO / INTERLEAVING/delay audio track to 400ms video will work on dvd player etc sweet happy new year I have HP burner now
