The problem for my laptop is that it won't turn on. A while back, I heard a buzzing sound coming from it. I decided to shut down and open it up later. When I tried to turn it on, it had no response. Now, I am stuck and confused on what is wrong with it. My warranty has expired so asking Dell for some help would be not cost effective. Any help or input would be appreciated.

    My lap top specs:

    Dell Inspiron 5150
    Pentium 4 (2.4 ghz - I think)
    Windows XP SP2
    512 mb RAM
    onboard graphics and sound card

First guess? Overheated and cooked the mobo or processor or both. Dell is notorious for it.

Pull the battery and let it sit for a day. Then plug it back in and see what happens. If you get nothing, my guess is it is dead.
