What else is happening.flashing lights..clicking??...there are too many possibilities but it's nearly always hardware related..If it's a samsung drive try pressing eject then giving it a few decent knocks on the top above the middle of the drive...check out some of the dvd drive threads here http://www.forums.llamma.com

He could always force the drive open with a paperclip using that really small hole in the middle (toward the left) .

how do you mean its a real pig to fix? usually you can jsut do the clock set, then turn it off method.

well, the clock loop is when everytime you start up your xbox it asks for teh time then you set and it just lets you use the M$ dash. To fix this you turn the box on set the clcokc then quick turn off the xbox, it should boot if done correctly. If this doesnt work after a few trys unplug it for about 10 seconds and then try.

No no no, the clock loop he is talking about is non-related, he was just talking. Adn you asked so I gave you an answer. If you are in a clock loop you will know.

King..hows it going?... no... error 21 is usually a non recoverable loop caused by a messed up live update.. it loops and loops.. It is a form of clock loop in that the xbox can't connect to the MS server to synchronise and gets stuck...The only way out discovered so far is to repair the dash files with older ones and then reconnect for the update...and without a mod is bad news

well you could probobly try that, my onyl warning would be to check if your softmod is compatible with the older dahsboard if youre good than go for it, btw before you do this make all youre backups , and make sure you still have the softmod gamesaves on the xbox, if it goes bad you will need them to reinstall and there might not be a M$ dash anymore.
