Howdy, hope this is the right place for this.

My drive is driving me nuts!!!
When I try to use nero there is no drive activity and it doesn't register when I put disc's in. This is a new problem, I've used it regularly for ages so I'm confused to say the least. Even when I go to "My Computer" and try to access it there it just tells me there is no disc inserted, again with no drive activity.

    Any help would be great

Go into device manager and uninstall the drive then reboot and let windows recognize and reinstall.

    Hi, thanks for your help

OK I tried that but no luck. When I use the "disc info" tool on nero it seems to be recognising the drive and there is now activity in the drive, but it still says there is no disc inserted or the drive is not ready. I've tried loads of different disc's (philips, emtec).

    any ideas?

Have you updated or checked for a f/w update? Try some better proven media. I wouldn't consider either of those two you mentioned to be even descent budget media. Try some verbatum, taiyo yuden, sony mij, fuji mij, or maxell's.

    EMTEC DVD+R 4x (MPOMEDIA040)
    EMTEC DVD-R 1x (OPTODISCK001)
    EMTEC DVD-R 4x (OPTODISCK001)
    Philips DVD+R 4x (CMC MAG F01)
    Philips DVD+R 4x (RICOHJPN R01)
    Philips DVD+R 8x (CMC MAG E01)
    Philips DVD+R 8x (Philips 081)
    Philips DVD+R 8x (RICOHJPN R02)
    Philips DVD+RW 2.4x (CMC MAG.W01)
    Philips DVD+RW 2.4x (INFODISCA01)
    Philips DVD+RW 4x (PHILIPS 041)
    Philips DVD+RW 4x (RICOHJPNW11)
    Philips DVD-R 8x (CMC MAG AE1

Doesn't look to good. Only ones I would use are the ricohjpn's and phillips 041's.

Thanks for the info, the only reason I didn't think it could be the media was down to the amount of successful burns I've already done on them.

    Cheers

Checked my firmware and it's fine but I also found out that my ASPI were out of date. I've now updated these and they are fine but now nero doesn't recognise any of my drives! Not my internal one or my external...When I go to Disc Info there are no drives there to select!
    Grrrr! lol
This is turning into a bit of a saga so any more help would be great!

    Thanks again

You've got a mess. Try updating nero and if that doesn't work delete nero and use their clean tool then reload nero w/o incd. I'm about out of suggestions.

no problemo mate, thanks for trying. It's really weird because the drives are being recognised no prob's in explorer - it's only nero that doesn't recognise them.
