I have a Western Digital 80gb external hard drive that I use for music and video files. A few months back I partitioned it so that 50gb was NTFS and the other 30gb or so was in FAT32 so that I could use it with my PS3. I now use Tversity to stream videos and copy my mkv files to dual layer so no longer need the 30gb partition for FAT32. I used Partition Magic to delete the partition. Now in my computer I have one drive that comes up but it reads as only having 50gb instead of having 80gb from the other 30gb that is no longer used... What happened?

Deleting a partition won't automatically make the other one larger to fill up the free space, you will need to do that as a separate operation - you should also be able to do that in partition magic.

Were both partitions the same file system though?

No one was NTFS and the other FAT32

Hmm, it might have been an option that got overlooked then. I don't use partition magic myself.

Versions differ I suppose. I'll bear this in mind for helping out others. Thanks for the heads up.
