I used the filemachine to convert my avi to dvd. It created an ISO file which I tried playing and it wouldnt. secondly when it created the folders video and audio, nothing was in the folders.

question 1: do i need all the right codecs to convert from avi to dvd?

second, its pal format and I have experienced jittery pictures when I converted otehr movies from pal to ntsc. can I just convert the avi to mpeg? but keep pal format?

third: there are so many programs, avi2dvd, VSOdivixtodvd, tmpgenc, and finally the filemachine, hich one is the best to use?

I was thinking about using the vso next try.

these are the following codecs I have installed.:xvid,ac3filte, ac3 decompressor, divix3.11 and direct x9.

    thanks.

Well Firstly you Don"t Play ISO files because ISO Files are not a Video or audio format they are a Disk Image Format so to Play the ISO you would Have to extract the Contents of the ISO to your HD and then Play the Contents of the ISO Or you could Mount the ISO on a Virtual-Drive and then Play it from the Virtual-Drive or you can simply Burn the ISO Image to CD/DVD and then Play it from the Disk...

Also To Play DVD/Mpeg-2 files on your PC you will need to have a Software DVD Player Installed or at least a Good Mpeg-2 decoder....

Most encoders do not do a Good Job of Converting Pal to NTSC so you will sometimes get Jumpy Playback when Playing files that were converted from Pal to NTSC...
The Best encoder for converting Pal to NTSC is "Canopus Procoder or Procoder Express" most every other Program will Cause the File to Play Back Jumpy....
If you have a Pal AVI file you can Just encode it to a Pal DVD but it will only Play if your DVD Player and TV Set support Both Pal and NTSC formats which in Most cases they will not and your Pal DVD will Playback in Black & White or not at all.....

When a program Creates an Audio_TS and a Video_TS folder usually the "Audio_TS" Folder will be Empty and the "Video_TS" folder will have Vob ,IFO and BUP files in it...The "Video_TS" Folder has to be Burned to DVD in DVD Video Mode useing something like Nero or some other Burning Program....

    Cheers
