I downloaded the new version and it works fine until I get to the writing speed part of the burn process. I put my blank cd in and the system doesn't seem to reconize it so it will not bring up the writing speed. I had Nero 6 before and it worked fine. I got a new computer recently and the nero 6 version wouldn't work anymore. I have downloaded Dvd shrink again and it is working fine. I have also checked to make sure I have the correct dvd's to burn onto. Please help someone, I'm about to pull out all of my hair.
I'm new at this like you and I have almost exactly the same problem. The answer they told me is here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/398786 Basically, you have to delete the newer version, run the Nero Clean Tool, and download version Nero 6.6.0.18: Did you buy Nero? If so, write your serial number down before you delete it. You'll need it for 6.60.018. My problem is I didn't buy it and I don't have a serial number. I don't mind buying it, but I want to make sure it will work first. I'm still waiting for a response to how to do this. I need a trial version of 6.60.18... Hope that helps.
